What is the deal withthe news being so unfocused on real news?

The big news stations are so concerned about the “hulk Hogan” story, and these celebrities, and what Obamas wie is wearing, and frivilous matters, and they will take up hours and days for these stories, but when a real news story is aired; it is aired for ten minutes during the afternoon, and is never heared of again….WHY is this?
Does this only bother me, or are their others who have seen this and are concerned?

News has become entertainment — objective is NOT to inform but get higher ratings, which means more money.
we live under the delusion that news is a medium for unbiased information. The truth is , the “news” is a business that is a subset of the entertainment industry. They will put on whatever they think their sponsors will respond best to. Stories about Hulk Hogan evidently sell more Big Macs than stories about more relevant things in our lives. I lowered my expectations on news long ago. I find that people who want to be more informed usually find better sources.
The stations call those little stories, “Fill”. It eats up minutes where they don’t have to report on the news at hand.
when they get stuck on something they drag it out like you said..and what gets me they never have good news..it so depressing…who cares about hulk hogan,,they are rich and Will get out of anything.. money talks…
Corporations own big media. Best source for real news is PBS and C-Span in America, and online, BBC and others. You just have to track it down.

It does bother me. The mass media is so anti America and biased that way.
